UDSM bonanza for Put a smile back on their faces 2019
Jun 29, 2019

Sport is a global language. It is often only regarded as a medium of entertainment and professionalism, but the fact is that sport, although indirectly, aims and works towards certain other factors, one among which is peace-building. The latter being of a major importance in troubled communities, sport can thus be brought into play. At its best, sport can unite people, no matter what their origin, background, religious belief or economic status. This global language also has the ability to bring people together so they can speak about issues in the community
The University of Dar es salaam held a sport bonanza as a way of bringing together all the people that have studied there, as a way of inspiring those that are still in school. Different games were played between the former and the latter
We at SADAKA network were also part of this bonanza and we got to raise awareness about the initiative we are doing with the Aga Khan Hospital, Muhimbili National Hospital and Women Reconstructive International.
We were able to speak about gender- based violence and the effect it has in the community. We also spoke of the reconstructive surgeries that will be held in August and October so that they would pass word to relatives and friends who are scarred and can benefit from the surgeries
We would like to thank the University of Dar es salaam for giving us this awesome opportunity and for all students who keep sharing the photos on their social media pages
Together we can put a smile back on the victims faces
